During the 40s & 50s he painted cheesecake-type pictures of women whose underware has fallen down in some very embarrasing situations. The site disects the photos and discusses recurring elements.
You’re invited to an old fashioned YIV barn raisin’. We’ll be hosting an Open House of building the weekends of June 17-18 & June 24-25 at our home base in Cinnaminson, NJ (AJ’s grandparent’s house). On the agenda will be building & painting furniture, cleaning and polishing trays and stitching sundry stuff.
We’ll fire up the grill in the evening and break out the booze (If we haven’t already done so during the afternoon).
For those coming long distance, we can offer crash space.
Helpful things to bring:
cordless drills
power saws
tape measure
measuring square
pencils
sawhorses
drop cloth or tarp
rags
folding chairs
paint brushes
paint clothes
work gloves
sewing machine
food for pot-luck
drink
We’re kind of going to play this by ear, but if you can make it for any length of time either day, we’d love to have you! Please give us a heads up that you’ll be here so we can be prepared. If you can’t make it, we will probably be scheduling more work weekends in July, depending on how much we can get done these two weekends.
We're going to have a work weekend on June 17-18 if anyone is interested in coming over to help build. We'll be knocking together benches and painting them. We'll be building every weekend thereafter if anyone wants to come down to help build, paint & stitch.
Fire Yesterday, we had a fire in the garage where we store all our merchandise and Pennsic stuff. Thankfully, no one was hurt, though my mother’s tenant is now displaced and her car destroyed. The fire department is unsure of the cause at the moment.
The short of it is that Pennsic is up in the air right now and we’ll have to radically re-think everything if we do it. All those beautiful things we just bought in Marrakech have been incinerated. We don’t have business insurance to cover the loss and we’re not sure if my mother’s homeowners policy will cover us either. We begin the long process of talking with insurance agents in about an hour when they start arriving to survey the damage.
It was a spectacular fire though and in all the confusion AJ managed to borrow a camera off a neighbor and take some photos. You can have a look at them on our blog: www.yourinnervagabond.com/blog
Please send us some good vibes as we begin to sort this out.
Hope your Mother’s Day was less eventful and all is well.
After yesterday's posting about the Iraqi Invasion Text Adventure on defective yeti, I did a little poking around and found the old Infocom Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy text adventure game available online to play!
So cool! Takes me right back to 1985 and my old C-64.
You can play it in all its mono-color glory HERE (just read the instructions and type in the serial number which will open the Java applet and type away!).
